Who Is Watching: Viva Hollywood

One of my newest guilty pleasures in reality tv is VH1’s “Viva Hollywood“. The show is a competition to become the next telenovela star. “Viva Hollywood” is highly entertaining and very competitive. Every week the cast competes in themed challenges and one person is killed off after competing in “el duelo”. I don’t know much about telenovelas or Latin stars, so it’s always interesting to get a glimpse into the world of Latin entertainment with the guest stars that appear on the show. Of course there is a lot of drama, especially with the arrogant Vinci and the ladies man Berto (who actually who supposedly has a long term girlfriend back home). If you haven’t checked out this show, it comes on Sundays at 10 on VH1.

Have you seen the show? Who is your favorite person on the show? Who do you think will win?

Introducing Girlicious

I think we’ve already established that I am a reality tv semi-junkie…so I make no apologies about being a fan of the show “Pussycat Dolls Presents: Girlicious”. As a matter of fact…a lot of folks I know like the show (so there! lol). Anyway…last night was the finale and the group was assembled. I’m so excited with the final group members since two of the people I’ve been rooting for all season made the group. In case you haven’t seen the finle yet (and tivo’d it) I will continue the rest of the post after the break…

Barack- Get That Dirt Off Your Shoulder

I don’t know if you guys tuned in for that disgraceful display of American so-called journalism last night in Pennsylvania…but if you did then you’re probably as pissed as I am (and millions others) about how much of a collosal waste of time it was. The media keeps manufacturing controversy to distract away from falling home prices, rising gas prices, a worsening economy, and a worsening of the conditions in Iraq. Just this week there were two suicide bombing attacks that killed over 50 people (each incident) in Iraq…but that doesn’t make it into the debate. Instead…the debate focuses on stupid ass covered ad-nauseum topics like Reverend Wright, Bitter-gate, and flag pin lapels! So anyway…today Barack Obama had a truly hilarious comeback to it all, that I just had to post. It seems like perhaps Barack went home and got some inspiration from his supporter Jay-Z  and his videos.  Check out Barack’s response to the debate:

So…in honor of Barack Obama and his swagger in dealing with the haters…I dedicate to him Jay-Z’s “Dirt Off Your Shoulder”

America’s Best Dance Crew: And the Winner Is…

Last night was the finale of America’s Best Dance Crew and it was full of collaborative dances with all of the different groups.

First up was the West with Jabba Wockeez, Fish & Chicks, and Kaba Modern and performing to “Go Dumb”. I gotta say this performance was hella wack. Hyphy music is full of energy and just wild and crazy so getting some of the most technical and precise dance teams to perform to that song was not a good match at all. I can get way more hyphy than that after a glass of wine lol.

Second was the South with Live In Color and Enigma performing to “Get Low”. This performance was exactly what I would expect it to be lots of ass shaking. There was nothing groundbreaking in the performance (I mean who didn’t dance like that to Lil John when the song came out? lol), but it was very entertaining. I think Live in Color should’ve been final 3, they are definitely way better than the three other teams that outlasted them.

More performance recaps, videos, and the winner after the jump

Speak on It: Making the Band 4 Finale Recap & Performances

Last night the season finale aired of Making the Band 4 and it was quite entertaining. The first hour was a regular episode that had a little bit of drama between Q and Dawn, because he was dancing suggestively with several girls while she was several feet away. Now…I’ve been in a similar situation so I gotta side with Dawn on how she handled the situation. She basically told him that she doesn’t care what he does so if he feels bad then that is his own guilty conscious speaking. My situation was a bit different where I had to check my man and let him know that if he wanted to be dancing with girls all up in my face then he better be prepared to watch me dance with guys…needless to say we never had that beef after that convo.

Anyway…Q did some ear hustling (which was pretty wack) and heard Dawn talking about the situation with the other DK chicks and let his inner bitcha$$ness run free. It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to guess who was fanning the flames with his sh!t talking…yep, King of the Bitcha$$ness Robert. Once Q calmed down and came to his senses he made nice with Dawn and all was right again in lover’s land.

The rest of the episode was filled with their radio appearances and general smack talking. The second hour was a reunion/recap kind of deal with performances from Danity Kane , Day 26, and Donnie. I would’ve preferred 2 DK performances rather than 2 Day 26 performances but oh well. Mike was looking pretty chunky again and neither Robert nor Brian were close to 6 pack status. However, Willie was looking good and Q is adorable.

Q was drooling over Dawn and even decided to publicly declare his affection for her by claiming her then giving her a big kiss (aaaaaawwwwwwwww). Robert’s ex Junebug cleared the air about the whole myspace blow up betweenRobert and D. Woods; and Robert asked D. Woods for an apology (damn does he ever stop whining?).

Diddy revealed that Danity Kane has the #1 album in the country…which doesn’t surprise me at all. When I went to buy it on Tuesday it was sold out! I bought it on Saturday and I’ve been playing it out ever since. Finally, the big announcement that Diddy had to make is that Danity Kane, Day 26, and Donnie will all be touring together over the next few months and it will all be captured on Making the Band 5. I wonder if he’ll throw Cheri Dennis a bone and let her open up for them.

Watch Danity Kane- Damaged

Watch Day 26- Got Me Going

Watch Donnie- Take You There feat. Diddy

What do you guys think of the finale? Are you happy that Dawn and Q stuck together? Do you think Day 26 will enjoy the same success as DK with their debut album? Which song do you hear on the radio more- “Damaged” or “Got Me Going”? (I’ve been hearing Damaged on every station out here) Who had the best performance?

Making the Band 4- So Much Bitchassness, So Little Sexy

So…I checked out Making the Band 4 Monday night waiting for a guy fight between Robert and Brian and here are my top questions from the show:

1) Why is there so much bitchassness? I swear the dudes from Day 26 are cattier than females. It’s funny to see Danity Kane mesh well and get along so well, yet see the guys bicker. Robert and Brian are so overly sensitive it’s not even funny…well actually it is funny. They both cry like 5 year olds…sh!t is pathetic.

2) Why haven’t Robert and Brian got the memo that eyebrows with lines in them went out in the 90s? Seriously..that is not cute and it is the anti-thesis of cool.

3) While we are on the subject of Robert and Brian, will someone please tell them that braids and texturizers are played out! If Ludacris could let the braids go, sure Brian can let them go. And when you add the slashed eyebrows to the texturizers and braids it is just a total train wreck.

4) Did Diddy really think he was picking sex symbols in Brian, Robert, and Big Mike? There are no shirt off photo-ops with those three and they are at the point of looking sloppy.

5) How stupid was it for Briand and Robert to fight over the shower? Call me crazy but that big ol’ mansion can’t possibly be lacking in bathrooms.

6) If Robert and Brian fought would they get into a slap fight or fisticuffs? lol

7) Who gets their a$$ kicked…Robert or Brian?

8 ) Did anybody get Diddy’s special report about bitcha$$ness in the Obama vs. Clinton race? I mean obviously I’m pro-Obama but Diddy failed to make any kind of logical point.

9) Doesn’t Ank Rah kind of look like a Pinky (of Pinky & The Brain)?

10) Isn’t it safe to say that in the battle of the sexes Danity Kane won?

What do you guys think of the episode? Isn’t it kind of pitiful to the guys behave like brats? Are you feeling the DK songs?

Flavor of Love 3: The Cesspool of Women

I think we have pretty much established that Flavor of Love is a disgraceful representation of women, especially Black women, but this season has managed to stoop to new lows. First…this is easily the most unattractive cast to date. F0r instance, Shy has a disgusting grill (will somebody put a muzzle on her), Sinceer has the biggest forehead and when her eyebrows aren’t drawn on she looks a hot mess.

Secondly, if I had twins like “Thing 1 & Thing 2″, I would set myself on fire and jump off a bridge. They both have a busted grill, they cackle incessantly, and they finish each others stupid ass sentences. These chicks annoy me at every level. Oh yeah and why is one twin 30 pounds heavier than the other one? To their parents: you have failed miserably.

Speaking of parents, so many of these women have a bunch of a kids. What kind of example are these broads setting for their kids? One woman has 3 kids and she subjected herself to a herpes lip exam on national tv. What the hell? She seems like a nice woman, but damn whatever happened to dignity? I take that back we are talking about Flavor of Love after all.

Ughhh…the moral of the story, this show gets more embarrassing each season. Plus now these broads don’t even wait til the season is over to have their a$$ shots all over the internet.  Disgraceful.

Am I the only one hoping that this is the last season of Flavor of Love?

Project Runway: And the Winner Is…

Click here to view Christian’s collection

I haven’t talked about it on the site yet, but I love Project Runway! Last night was the finale and the person I’ve been rooting for all season won- Christian! I’ll admit that the thing that makes me like him the most is how hilarious he is. He is so conceited,self-assured, and the way he talks makes him so endearing.

On the finale, Jillian had a nice collection…I liked the sweaters and her clothes looked great, but it really lacked cohesion. Also, she didn’t do an evening gown that blew me away. Click here to view Jillian’s Collection

Rami also had a pretty good collection, but like the judges said his color choices were odd. His fuchsia and neon blue clothes weren’t the hotness. I don’t know where he was coming from with that at all. Click here to view Rami’s Collection

Christian’s collection was the most dramatic and I give him kudos for using so many Black woman and recognizing the fierceness that we have too!

Did anyone notice that Jaslene from Top Model was one of Jillian’s models? She looked fantastic and she worked the runway. Also…I spotted Lauren from the current season of top model as the train-wreck model that Rami pointed out. Was she serious? I don’t know the timing of when Top Model was taped and when this finale was taped, but assuming this took place after Top Model then damn she didn’t learn sh!t!
Anyways, I’m happy with Christian winning…he and his collection are fierce!

What do you guys think of the finale? Did Christian deserve to win? Who deserved to be in the final three? Overall wasn’t there a lack of talent this season (i.e. Sweet Pea and 6 other people)?

Must Watch: Making the Band 4- Dawn Tackles her Katrina Issues & A Romance Blossoms

So last night I watched Making the Band 4 and although I’ve always been a huge fan of the show and it how it shows the recording process…last night’s episode with its focus on Dawn was really touching. If you’re a fan of the show then you probably know that Dawn was a Hurricane Katrina evacuee. She was forced to sleep in her car for several days and her and her family lost everything they had worked for like so many people affected by the Hurricanes (Katrina and Rita). The show did a great job of showing the kind of mental and emotional wreck going through something like that can take on people. It’s definitely an episode worth checking out (although I admit I skipped through most of Donnie’s parts).

It’s good to see a heartfelt and honest portrayal of people on a reality tv show where most shows tend to create these buffoonish characters. I’m glad that there is a show like MTB4 that shows women getting along and Black women as multi-dimensional to show a contrast to the loud mouth, catty, ignorant b!tches on shows like Flavor of Love. I also have to say that her and Q’s courtship/flirtation kinda made me go “awwwww”. I personally hate dating, but one of the best things about it is that time where you start to realize that you both are feeling each other and it looks like it might be blossoming into something special. According to recent interviews Q and Dawn aren’t actually together (but then again does anyone ever admit to a relationship at first?)…so it’s likely that their flirtation never blossomed into much…but I still think it is cute. I’m interested to see how this shapes up in the future episodes.  At the very least I thought it was really sweet how he opened to her about losing his father and the sincerity they showed in their feelings.

Did you check out last night’s episode? Are Dawn and Q as a couple growing on you? Isn’t it crazy how living through something like Katrina can permanently alter how you approach life? What do you think about the brewing feud between Robert and Brian that next week’s previews showed in full effect?

Random Videos: Rick Ross/T-Pain- Boss, Plies Casting Special, Janet Jackson’s MTV Spoofs

Rick Ross has a new video for his song “Boss” featuring T-Pain. I just want to know who lied and told Rick Ross he is a sex symbol? I’m not hating on the big dudes, but Rick Ross is not the hotness. The video is pretty simple and has the usual plot of Rick Ross as some sort of crime boss/ladies man. I’m not impressed.

Apparently Plies is doing a reality show to find his “Bust It Baby”, whatever the hell that is. I would be shocked if this actually made it onto tv. ***sighs*** Some Black people are hell bent on finding new ways to be disgraceful. Here is a thought, why not have a show called “The Next 4.0 Student” or “Debate Team Tryouts”, I mean ANYTHING remotely intelligent. Anyway, what amazes me is that some of these women actually know the words to this guy’s song and act like they are really interested in Plies. Am I missing something here? Plies is even less of a sex symbol than Rick Ross. Just a damn shame. Anyway, if you haven’t had your share of hot ghetto mess today then click here to watch the video. I should warn you that in true skank fashion some women lift up their skirts and other slutty things. So, watch at your own risk.

On a more light-hearted note, Janet Jackson did several hilarious spoofs for MTV to promote her new album. She clowned everything from My Super Sweet 16, A Shot at Love, Real World, and Making the Band in pretty great fashion. I won’t spoil the video by giving you all the details so just watch! Oh yeah and I guess it’s safe to say that MTV is done hating on Janet.

What do you guys think of these videos? Aren’t “celebrity” dating shows played out? Which Janet spoof was your favorite? (My vote goes to Real World)
