Throwback Friday: All about Guy

I’m an 80s baby, but I wasn’t too young to groove to Guy’s New Jack Swing. To this day, Guy has some of my favorite songs. Every old school mix cd I make includes at least one song from the group. So…I decided to dedicate a post to the hotness that is Guy. Enjoy…

Guy- Groove Me

Guy- Let’s Chill

What is Your “Stipper Song”?

I’m going to let you guys in on a little secret…there is one song that I call my “stripper song”. No…I have not and will never be a stripper, but I call it that because I think every woman has a song that makes them go “if I was ever a stripper this would be my theme song” lol. Cameo’s “Candy” is that track for me. I love old school and everything about this song makes me just want to get my groove on. Since I haven’t posted any other videos today, I’m going to throw this one up for good measure.

What is your stripper song? (Fellas I’m sure ya’ll have stripper songs too) lol.

Throwback Joint of the Week (Only for the Grown & Sexy): D’Angelo- Untitled (How Does it Feel)

So…I was watching Vh1 Soul this week and lo and behold the sexiest video ever created, D’Angelo-”Untitled”, came on much to my surprise/delight. It made me think, THIS is what a real sex symbol is supposed to look like. Now we got these young cats like Trey Songz and Omarion thinking they are sex symbols in all their 5′6″ 140 pound glory…what a rip off! So…I just had to post this video to remind folks that in order to be a sex symbol you have to be 1) FINE as hell!, 2) A grown man and not JUST out of puberty, and 3) have a banging body. Now that we got that criteria established…ladies…enjoy!

Is this not the sexiest video ever created? Doesn’t this video point out how ridiculous the new age sex symbols look in comparison?

P.S.- I do realize that D’Angelo needs to take a trip on Celebrity Fit Club now…but don’t hate…he was the business back in the day!

Throwback Videos: Bobby Brown- Tenderoni; Aaliyah- Hot Like Fire

So today at lunch I was getting my little chicken casear wrap, sudoku, old school jam on with some throwback Bobby Brown, Lucy Pearl, and Tony Toni Tone…and it gave me the idea to do a Throwback post today. First, I chose Bobby Brown’s “Tenderoni”, because the lyrics of the song are really sweet and very true. There is a good chance that if you actually take the time to get to a know a woman instead of trying to get over on her and get as much as you can with as little effort and time…you will discover a really sweet and loving person. It may require more work for some (I know I fall under that category) but it usually won’t be in vain and feel like that much more of a reward. So…if you are a tenderoni then this song is for you.

The anniversary of Aaliyah’s passing just happened a few weeks ago…so I figured it would be fitting to post one of her hottest songs “Hot Like Fire”. I’m a huge fan of her music and there are so many videos to choose from; but considering that it’s been hot as hell lately and I know plenty of people are going to be having block parties this Labor Day weekend I chose this one. This one goes out to all the beautiful “hot” people out there.

Throwback Summer Jams of the Week: Crush on You & Tootsie Roll

So as you all know…we have the “Let’s Make a List: Top Summer Jams” post going on…and there are so many great songs, that each week I’m picking one or two from the list to spotlight. First up this week is Lil Kim featuring Lil Cease “Crush On You”. This is a certifiably hot summer jam. I remember back when this came out, chicks were rocking green, yellow, and flaming red wigs…or overly color coordinating their outfits…pure comedy! I can’t front though, because Lil Kim worked it out with all her flamboyant styling. So…this one goes out to every woman that was a Lil Kim Junior back in the day and to all the guys who wore bright ass clothing like Lil Cease in the video (anybody bold enough to fess up to falling under one of these categories?)

Up next is the still fun to this day “Tootise Roll” by the 69 Boyz. Before walking it out, leanin/snappin, cranking dat souljia boy, pop lock & droppin it, there was the Tootsie Roll. Everybody and their mama was doing this dance back in the day and anyone that says they wouldn’t still get up and do the tootsie roll if it came on right now they are lying! My only question is, why didn’t the butterfly ever get its own song?

What do you think about the summer jams of the week? Why did Lil Kim have to get all that plastic surgery when she was perfectly pretty back in the day? Did anyone ever dedicate Crush On You to you? Do you still know how to do the tootsie roll? What about the butterfly? lol. If the tootsie roll battled the walk it out in dance contest which would win?

Throwback Summer Jam of the Week: LL Cool J/Total- Loungin

For the “Summer of The Week” I had to throw it back to LL Cool J’s “Loungin” featuring Total. LL Cool J has released so many sexy summer jams like “Hey Lover, “Loungin”, “Love You Better”, “Doin It’, and “Paradise” just to name a few…but Loungin came up more than any other song. LL is the original Hip Hop Sex symbol and he is still hot! Even though this song is hella old I still play this song when I’m rolling around town with the top down. This song goes out to everyone that’s going to a bbq, beach party,  or pool party this weekend. Enjoy!

Remember if you want to see your favorite summer song picked for the jam of the week, go to “Let’s Make a List” and post your favs. Each week I’ll be picking a different song from the list.

Out of the summer jams I listed from LL Cool J above, which one is your top LL Cool J pick? Does anyone have any exciting plans for the weekend?

Throwback Summer Jam of the Week: Jodeci- Get On Up

Earlier this week we compiled a list of the best summer jams…so for the rest of the summer I’m going to pick a song from the list and do a post about it. This week…I chose Jodeci “Get On Up”. Jodeci is best known for their sexy songs like “Feenin” and “Freakin You”…but this is one of their best joints. I want to dedicate this song to all of our faithful HM readers who keep us motivated to keep doing what we do. Since the weekend is almost here it’s time for everyone to get on up…go to the beach, go to the club, go to church, go visit for your family…or just sit on your front porch and enjoy the lovely weather.

If you want your favorite summer song to be the Throwback Summer Jam of the Week…go to the “Let’s Make a List: The Top R&B/Hip Hop Summer Songs”  post and leave a comment!

Oh Hell Naw: Sarah Connor & Ne-Yo Remake “Sexual Healing”

Sarah Connor and Ne-Yo must have been on some major crack when they decided it would be a good idea to butcher Marvin Gaye’s classic, “Sexual Healing”. This sh!t is straight garbage. I can’t believe this crap is even seeing the light of day. There is no soul and no sexiness in this song whatsoever…some songs should just be left alone!

The original: Marvin Gaye- Sexual Healing

What do you think about this remake? I know I don’t need to even ask, but which version do you prefer? Who do you think would be able to do a good remake of the song?

Throwback Vid: Hi-Five- Kissing Game…RIP Tony Thompson

Eurweb has the story:

Tony Thompson, a member of the 1990s R&B group Hi Five, was found dead Friday night of an apparent drug overdose, friends told the Waco Tribune-Herald. He was 31.
Thompson’s body was discovered at around 10 p.m. outside of an apartment complex in his native Waco, Texas.
Immediately following the signing of Hi Five to Jive Records in 1990, the group found success with their multi-platinum self-titled debut album, which featured the hit singles “I Like the Way (The Kissing Game),” “I Can’t Wait Another Minute,” and “Just Another Girlfriend.”

Two years later, the group scored with hits “She’s Playing Hard to Get” and “Quality Time.”
Thompson, who grew up in Oklahoma City, released a solo album, “Sexsational,” in 1995 following the breakup of Hi Five during the previous year. He reformed the band with four new members – including his little brother – in 2006 and released their album “The Return” on his own record label, N’Depth.
The singer had recently moved back to Waco from Dallas and was working on new material at the time of his death.

Speaking of Thompson’s new material, if you go to his MySpace page (www.myspace.com/tonythompsonmusicpage) you can hear what he was working. One song that stands out is the incredibly groovealicious “Come Over.”

RIP Tony Thompson! I used to loooove Hi-Five!
