Watch: Michelle Williams “We Break the Dawn”

Michelle Williams has a new video for her song “We Break The Dawn”. Hmmm…I’m not impressed. I’m already not a fan of the song and the video added nothing to it. It’s cool that she showed an ounce of personality but her dancing was pretty much nonexistent. The only part I really liked was when she was getting tossed around to different guys since that was pretty original…I wouldn’t be surprised if she had a stunt double for that though lol. I guess ya’ll can just call me a hater now, because I’m not feeling it and I’m pretty sure that I will never spend another 4 minutes of my life watching this video again.

What do you guys think of the video? How does is tack up against Kelly and Beyonce’s solo joints?

I like Michelle Williams as a person she seems cool…but as a singer, I’m not feeling this at all. I’m still open to the possibility that she will come out with something half way decent though…we’ll see lol.

As far as Ryan Leslie, he needs to a strong image/brand. I don’t look at him and think “Hmm…I wonder what he is about”…and as an artist try to make it big you have to have something compelling about yourself.

Im kinda feeling this whole dance(ish) music movement although I know it will only take a few more songs for me to start throwing stuff at my computer (not actually. I love my lappy). I actually like this song and its a bit more than what I expected from Michelle who I usually wrote off as another talented person but not a star. The whole video did have a bit of a lazy/rehearsal before the dress rehearsal vibe. Like even her hand claps didnt have that energy which is something you were used to in DC, but maybe she is trying to create an image separate from all that. I did like her chain tho…ok now Im just rambling.

fair point but i think looking at artist tht way is kinda subjective…i mean i dont look at kanye west and think…mmm he looks rele mysterious and dark..i wonder what makes him tick…jokes aside for me the music speaks first then image comes later…i get your point though so no disrespect…to be honest if i was in michelle williams position i’d sit back and enjoy all that money…forget the limelight and enjoy life…p.s im from the good ole u.k..surely im not 9 hrs forward of you lot?

Yeah HM is based out of Cali (LA to be exact). I try to post at night before bed so that people won’t have to wait until noon for new ish…but I’m still recovering from my vacay.

Anyway…I like the dance movement, but I’m just not feeling the lack of creativity in the production. A few months ago Danity Kane had a dance cd out and Janet Jackson did but their cds sounded totally different. Now all these songs coming out that are just so bland and redundant.

I love this song! I hated Ms. Williams - I disliked her even more than Kelly, who was under Beyonce… But I like Michelle a lot more than Kelly after showing off her new image.

    Brandy anyone?

Haha anyways, I thought this was a cute introduction to her style/vibe/swag. She’s never done it this glammed-up before, and I didn’t cringe.

Well - I lied - I cringed when I saw that Whitney Houston-post crack-head body she was showing off. Ummm she looked like Houston did at Jackson’s honorary show on VH1.

    WOO! GIRL!

    Love it!

lol Ryan you are off the hook. I remember Whitney Houston at the Divas Live show on VH1 and yes she did look an anorexic hot mess…and I think Michelle looked extremely skinny in this video too. I can only imagine how skinny she is in person because the camera does add a few pounds on you.

Now that you mention it, this does kind of remind of Brandy circa her “What About Us” (Full Moon) days.

i think michelle needs to play on her strengths… dancing not being one of them.
of course people are gunna clown on her for making a dance track and not doing any actual dancing in the video. it seems fake to me……

like all of her DC money’s gone so she wants to make a quick buck. dance is in..so she went with that.

i like the song, but you gotta come with the whole package if ur gunna cut it ..if you cant dance, stick with the ballods.
