Chris Brown has a new video for his song “Forever”. I guess someone in Chris Brown’s camp figured that the Pop route sells more records so he is upping the Pop ante in his music. This song isn’t my cup of tea, but the video is pretty good. He has great choreography as usual and the video is visually interesting.
Lloyd has a new video for his song “How We Do It” featuring Ludacris.I don’t know whether to call this video low budget or creative…I’m going to have to think about that one. Whatever the case, it’s an upbeat video for an upbeat song. This song sounds pretty teeny bopperish so I’m interested to see if this will be a hit in the clubs. I’m sure this song will be a hit with Lloyd’s fans though.
Lil Mama has a new vid for her song “L.I.F.E.”. Lil Mama gets serious and personal for this track, I’m just not sure if this is autobiographical or not (my guess is no). She raps in the first person, but in part of the video she is pregnant that threw me off. Perhaps I need to pay more attention to the song, but it’s too damn early in the morning and I really don’t feel like it. At any rate…I gotta give Lil Mama kudos for making this kind of video and song that has a pretty powerful message. She showed some pretty good acting chops and this kind of shows that she is more talented than a song like “Lip Gloss” would have you believe.
What do you guys think of these three videos? Are you looking forward to the Chris Brown re-release, Lloyd album, and/or Lil Mama’s new album?

Alright, here’s a secret I’m going to share with you about this Chris Brown guy.
Shhhhh…. just between you and me now, but… he sucks.
I hate it when artists re-release an album. If it sucked the first time, why put it out again? Especially if you’re just going to add another horrible song to the mix.
As for Lloyd, this song is hot. It’s good to see him already back with a new album.
There’s no way I’m clicking on a Lil Mama video.
Goodbye.

Lil mama,I’m conflicted. On the one hand she suckz ass, but on the other hand at least she’s making hip hop that’s decent and clean enough for kids to listen to. So here lies the dilemma
(*Ladies disclaimer* even though I don’t have kids)
What’s worse fuckin up childs morales by letting your 8 year old kid listen to a classic like biggies 10 crack commandments or fucking up a childhood by letting your 8 year old listen to sum newfangled 08 female version of kriss kross and ruining his musical palette forever.
Personally I’d rather have my kid grow up with loose morales, and on heroine as long as he listens to some good music. Cuz real talk I’d rather have a gay son than one with shitty musical tastes. At least when I’m bumping olivia newton johns lets get physical(*no homo* great song) in my car I can blame it on my kid.
talk amongst yourselves
no, no and no. that forever video was safe too safe and too boring.
Lloyd has fans?
pause
get it shawty is one of my favorite songs on GTA iv
the lil mama video and song aint that bad— BUT her voice is HELLA SHAKY (read: wretched), so imma need her to stick to just rapping
yeah i agree lloyd’s video is on the edge of being craptastically low budget, but it is different/creative— but i’ll pass on the song
and i’ll pass on the chris brown as well. his sudden jump to pop is so obvious. and I think its whack as hell to crossover just for the sake of money, cuz i have a hard time believing this is the artistic vision/direction he wants to take— i think his label saw whats making the money and just told him to do this song for number/money. theres no art in being a label puppet
Ibra…I hope you were joking! lol. I think “musical tastes” are taken too seriously. I have a certain type of music that I gravitate towards, but otherwise I take music on a song by song basis. I don’t think liking a song by Soulja Boy is mutually exclusive to liking a song by Common.
I’ve been playing that Lloyd joint for awhile at my bar and it’s okay. I think the saving grace is that Luda is on it. Anyone notice how the hook in the chorus was changed?
As the say in spain Reecie touché, I shouldn’t be as snobby about musical tastes, cuz I look back and there was some craptastic music I would listen to back in the day(aka MC hammer), and I can tell they are craptastic now because they didn’t age well (aka Rakim, beastie boys). This is America, everyone has the right to also be in love with crappy music/artists at some point in their life. It’s like your first hooptie nice at the time, but in retrospect it was mad shitty but you still love the memories.
Michael Jackson,is thought to be guy,but that doesnot take away from his musical talent….!
Does it!
Anyways as usual Chris came out with a good video.it is interesting as most of them are. This is not bad but I do prefer when he sings songs like “with you” or “kiss kiss”etc….
As for lloyd,am glad he’s back on the seen, seeing has though he’s the only one doing anything for inc, right now.
They need to promote him a whole lot more
He is talented and worth it.
Lil mama was at the concert to.(and, yes she did her lollipop song) that was the worst. But the kids enjoyed it.(Its for them anyways….)
But on the other hand, this is a pretty good song.I knew she had it in her because she has song out with Chris Brown called”shawty get loose”.
And I actually like it.The video to it has an Janet/michael feeling to it.
Check it out sometime Reecie.I think you will actually like it.
S.S ant trd of u
Michael Jackson,is thought to be GAY,but that does not take away from his musical talent!
Does it!
I’ll do you one better Prince and his Assless pants. And he’s still good in the hood now that’s G.
what the hell are u talkin about?
OK - Chris Brown i think is gettn weaker wit his muzik and Lloyd vid was ok nuthn like wow! But I think Lil Mama is somebody to look at cuz she bringin sumthn nobody else is rite now she unique and i did buy her album cuz i support da new artist and i gotta tell u it wasnt bad she can sing too. (mayb its jus technology) but she gotta voice and her muzik good on there. And damn Ibra if u 4rea u got issues…..im srry.
wow ibra thats a big bitter call
Ibra, that was funny yo! U made me laugh!
That prince comment was right on point………
anyways VU it was referring to that gay point that i wrote about concerning Chris.I just threw it out their for someone that had commented before that Chris was gay.
Why did the Lloyd hook get switched up? I liked it better before.
I see tactical marketting ventures in both Chris Brown and Lloyd in these videos. For one, Lloyd made an intelligent move by changing the chorus from talkin about “The A” to “Around The Way” - that will deffinitly draw some people who don’t live in Atlanta, or don’t come from Atlanta, towards this song.
As far as Chris Brown - this song is meaningless, nothing powerful about it - pop-wise or R&B-wise. It sounds like a watered-down version of Ne-Yo’s “Closer”.
And for Little Mama, let me approach her with a little different of a perspective. The video is smart, it’s placing her in 3 different young people’s lives, all 3 of whom are experiencing different epidemics going on within the black community today with teenage pregnancy, parents being drug addicts, and not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s lyrically true to Lil Mama’s capabilities, as she isn’t the best artist, but she’s bringing up an honest discussion.
This song reminds me of Foxy Brown’s joint “My Life” - as far as I’m concerned with Foxy, most of her shit is kinda wack, but this joint, “My Life”, is one of my all time favorite songs. It was produced by Kanye West and has such a real, honest tone it. I gotta give credit where credit is due - deffinitly, if not Lil Mama’s “L.I.F.E”, then check out Foxy Brown’s “My Life”. I could play that song everyday.
“My life” is one of my fav Foxy joints. That song is dope…I didn’t know that Kanye produced it though.
Thanks for clarifying about the song/video…like I said, I was just too tired to sit there and dedicate any real thinking to it.
i agree wiv u reecie bout chris browns video… not really feelin the song but the videos n dancin looks gd..
lloyds song isnt really appealin to me but maybe that would change if i listen to it again ..i found the video interestin tho
