Introducing Girlicious

I think we’ve already established that I am a reality tv semi-junkie…so I make no apologies about being a fan of the show “Pussycat Dolls Presents: Girlicious”. As a matter of fact…a lot of folks I know like the show (so there! lol). Anyway…last night was the finale and the group was assembled. I’m so excited with the final group members since two of the people I’ve been rooting for all season made the group. In case you haven’t seen the finle yet (and tivo’d it) I will continue the rest of the post after the break…

The panel of judges decided that Chrystina, Natalie, Nichole, and Tiffanie are the new group Girlicious! Their new video premiered and I am definitely digging it. Yes it’s very Pussycat Doll-ish (a younger hotter version)…but what woman doesn’t like those cocky ”Don’t Cha” type anthems? Here is their new video “Like Me”…check it out. I’m looking forward to the rest of their new music.

What do you guys think of the new group? Who do you think should’ve made the group? Do you think these ladies will make it big?

i tuned in for an episode or two and i automatically thought this was a competition of who could look/act/dress the sluttiest

    wear the whoriest makeup

and resemble a young tourist kidnapped and sold into the asian sex slave market

it was a retarded cycle of hair flinging (im surprised they all didnt have neck braces at the end), titty shimmies, ass dropping, crotch grabbing, and simulated sex breathe singing—– which is great for the adult male audience, hence me watching an episode— and they got rid of the hottest chic with actual singing chops, charli

but they kept saying the group is for/marketed to young girls, represents girl power, strength etc

with all seriousness i look forward to the maxim and King magazine spreads though, lmao

ummm feminist they are not, if i had a young teen daughter– she would def not be partaking in any girlicious action

i wanted it to be charlye, nichole and tiff… but i think the group looks hot as it is.

  5. 5 Reecie April 24, 2008 at 9:02 am

lol…Jermar…you’re a little extra with that one. I don’t know if they are marketing their music to young girls…perhaps younger women.

I wasn’t a fan of Charlye…her attitude was wack and I think she is cute…but not the hottest one.

Vic- The show is already over. You can try catching some of it on youtube.

  6. 6 viciuzurban April 24, 2008 at 9:04 am

yeah i just caught a few episodes…the dancing is lame, and the acting by the judges is ridiculous..

  7. 7 viciuzurban April 24, 2008 at 9:05 am

which song is that like me or stupid shit?

  8. 8 Reecie April 24, 2008 at 9:35 am

    It’s “Like Me”.

  9. 9 O'Maolchathaigh April 24, 2008 at 10:30 am

    Delicious looking yourself there Reecie.

  10. 10 Fool's Gold April 24, 2008 at 11:28 am

I used to watch the show in the beginning but I kinda stopped and forgot about it. I remember an episode where they were judged by an audience of children and I thought that was bad given what they are marketing sex first and talent second. OH and someone needs to do Natalie’s hair! It’s looking like Dawn’s from DK in their first season. A mess.

  11. 11 Reecie April 24, 2008 at 1:26 pm

    Thanks O’Mao__

Fool’s Good…I think you mean Tiffanie…and yes that brown wig she is wearing right there is a hot mess. Black hair on her is much more flattering to her complexion.

Girl, from the looks of it, I’m glad I didn’t see the show. On the flip-note, I’m glad I’m a reader of this page, because then I wouldn’t have any weight put on the overall impact of the song. I fuckin love that video/song! HAY GIRL HAY! I can see me singin that shit in the club! Okkk.

Haha, you know I’m always down for a sassy bitch talkin about how another bitch is tryin to immitate her style! I’m concieted, I gotta reason!

Nice fuckin post for the real sassy bitches out there!

  13. 13 Ryan April 24, 2008 at 7:21 pm

What was PLAYED OUT move was that 34 seconds in? The clown walk? Girl that was 3 years ago, and 3 years aint enough time to start bringin played-out dance moves back. If the harlem shake has got a while, then YOU KNOW the clown walk aint no where close to be put back out there again.

  14. 14 Jehanne April 24, 2008 at 9:59 pm

    Hey Reecie,

Just curious, which girls were you rooting for?

  15. 15 Reecie April 24, 2008 at 10:24 pm

    Ryan you’re hilarious!

Jehanne…I was rooting for Chrystina and Natalie. I figured that the group would be Nichole, Natalie, and Chrystina. I wasn’t really feeling Tiffanie, because I thought her and Charlyie were just really catty and mean-spirited in some of their actions. I respect that she checked her attitude and squashed the beef…Charlyie wasn’t able to put her pettiness aside and it cost her a spot in the group.

  16. 16 viciuzurban April 25, 2008 at 10:37 am

lol reecie i was kidding before…i just checked the video and all i gotta say is…

GOT DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN did i say DAMN…that chick on the second verse DAMN!!! Now how can nicole compete with that?

  17. 17 viciuzurban April 25, 2008 at 10:49 am

this is overkill man…hand flicks, hair flicks, same steps they need to hire a new choreographer that gay dude didnt he say one time that theres a line between dancing sexy and dancing slutty..well this is like that

  18. 18 Reecie April 25, 2008 at 11:17 am

lol..yeah vic the hair tossing was a bit much. I wouldn’t go so far as to say they were dancing slutty…but they were on the verge. However…one thing I gotta give these girls credit for is they are giving it everything they’ve got. Their energy really shines through and I think that’s what draws people in more than anything. If they would’ve pulled a Kelly Rowland and just stood there all bland trying to be subtle and cute people would be like womp womp. It’s all in how you sell it, and they are definitely selling their music.

  19. 19 viciuzurban April 25, 2008 at 11:24 am

they shit all over danity kane u got to admit this track is addictive….one question reecie, are you like them??

  20. 20 viciuzurban April 25, 2008 at 11:31 am

i writing an essay at the moment on the proliferation of music downloads and how the recording industries cannot contain the beast that is peer-to-peer sharing, rather they must embrace the new technology as the advent of the digital age and the Internet has really left them dead in their tracks,as the law hasnt had time to catch up with the speed at which music/e-commerce is changing, evolving, being purchased. and it reminded me of an argument that all these people are crying about blah blah music piracy, recording artists like jay and diddy have become increasingle business savvy, creating their own imprint labels, clothing lines, looking for other streams of income, while embracing the technological advances of todays world and the medium of technology to mass produced artists and groups. sure artisty is comprised, but the shift towards readily disposable manufactured pop/rnb acts with mass sex appeal represents the very growing trend flourishing in today’s current entertainment climate. Day 26, Danity Kane and Girlicious are recent examples of this market trend. what did hov say…i’m not a businessman, i’m a business, man

  21. 21 viciuzurban April 25, 2008 at 11:39 am

anways im all over the place…moral of the story is if you’ve got it flaunt it!

  22. 22 viciuzurban April 25, 2008 at 11:44 am

i agree with your kelly comment..i didnt like the idea of a re-release in the first place, ms kelly was strong as it is, but she needed to bring that extra marketing dimension to the table and that was her selling it, on stage, in print and in the videos. i never got that, i like her a lot and its a shame that after all the countless performance she had did with destiny’s child and her having to go over to the UK to flex her muscle and bring up her speed with her performances to show us that. she should have been ready from day 1. chances come and go quicker in this industry and its ruthless. personally i think nicoles days are numbered, the pussycat dolls really showed how disposable a group they was, that in the event of one trying to go solo, it would never had worked.

  23. 23 viciuzurban April 25, 2008 at 11:45 am

plus sex sells in any language…

  24. 24 viciuzurban April 25, 2008 at 11:45 am

anyways its like 4:50 am here on a saturday i should get some sleep hahaha

  25. 25 Jehanne April 25, 2008 at 12:02 pm

Yeah, I can understand that, but how can you say that Chrystina and Natalie didn’t have major attitude problems, especially natalie. How you gonna act like a diva before you even make it? And, be that cocky? Talent-wise they got it, but their attitude was pretty foul at times too.

  26. 26 Reecie April 25, 2008 at 3:13 pm

“they shit all over danity kane u got to admit this track is addictive….one question reecie, are you like them??”

I don’t think they crap all over DK…DK is on an entirely different level talent-wise and they have two hit albums under their belt. I like “Bad Girl” (from DK) a little bit more than “Like Me”. But…I think that Girlicious has a great possibility to enjoy the kind of success that the Pussycat Dolls enjoyed. PCD is a brand…clothing, clubs, music, etc. So…they already have a powerful engine behind them that is much more about promotion than Bad Boy is. As far who I’m like…I’m more Danity Kane than Girlicious. DK has more class and they’re more mature than Girllicious, so that is more in line with my style. However, I think every woman likes to vamp it up every now and then and show folks who is the baddest.

Jehanne…Chrystina and Natalie certainly aren’t totally innocent angels, but I don’t think they were mean and going after people. I think they had their insecurities and lashed out when they were attacked. Natalie did come off as cocky a lot of times, but on the other hand she also showed her vulnerable side…so I don’t think she was totally coming from a place of thinking she was better than other people there.

  27. 27 DatBoiDee April 25, 2008 at 4:04 pm

speaking of DK, isn’t it about time for a new single or something?

  28. 28 BklynQueen'86 April 26, 2008 at 6:41 am

Lol, I read this before watching the show. Its cool…Im kinda upset Charlye didnt pull it together, cus I was rooting for her. That episode when she and Tiffanie stormed the kitchen made me a fan. Natalie and Christina always seemed to be as contentious as Tiffanie and Charlye to me, but put a cute girl image in front of it. Tiffanie was overly dramatic…but that was known, Natalie and Christina would sit and be holier than thou, and then get offended when those two barked louder. Anywho…its all edited, so who knows what really went down.

I liked that red headed Ilisa girl and Carrie…but they didnt work in the group setting.

Yea…now im going to need some new tv crack. Thankfully sitcoms are returning.

  29. 29 BklynQueen'86 April 26, 2008 at 7:26 am

That said…there two first singles are scarily catchy and addictive.

  30. 30 viciuzurban April 26, 2008 at 9:05 am

hahaha these girls are really dense…that stupid shit video i couldnt have come up with a better name for it

is that tiffanie girl the one from the search for the pussycat dolls the one that can really sing…damn she should have made…the others sound too fake

  31. 31 Reecie April 26, 2008 at 8:43 pm

The stupid shit video was super wack and they really went overboard with it. But…I chopped that up to just throwing something togegther to entice people to pay 3.99 for the Single EP package than anything. I’m pretty sure it’s a single.

Tiffanie wasn’t on The Search for the Pussycat Dolls. And…the girls all have really nice voices. Granted none of them are amazing singers, but I still like them for what they are which is a Pop girl group.

Anyway..BklynQueen…I actually think that Charlyie and Tiff acted more holier than though. Charlyie’s complaint that the other girls won that dance challenge by acting slutty was over the top and sour grapes. Those girls were trying out for basically what is the next PCD not the next biggest wholesome girl group…so Charlyie was just hating. I liked Ilisa and Carrie, but it was pretty obvious they were never going to make it in the group. One person I thought was crazy was the one Jamie who cried and said they ruined her look by dying her hair a lighter/reddish color. She looked almost exactly the same with the new hair color! For her to get so worked up over that was pretty stupid.

Dee…yes it is time for another DK single, but they are on Bad Boy which sucks at promoting their artists, so who knows if and when that will come. They only had two videos for a platinum selling album last time, so that should tell you something right there.

  32. 32 cheche April 27, 2008 at 12:28 am

I like this song, when they cut charlye i knew they were gonna keep christyna and natalie because they are the image, as you can see in the video look who got the most camera time lol, charlye’s attitude was wack and it wouldnt have been a strong enough group with just her tiffany and nichole because there would be no eye candy, so she did the right thing, they look good together, but i dont think they will have the same staying power as danity kane, but theres room for both.
