So last night I watched Making the Band 4 and although I’ve always been a huge fan of the show and it how it shows the recording process…last night’s episode with its focus on Dawn was really touching. If you’re a fan of the show then you probably know that Dawn was a Hurricane Katrina evacuee. She was forced to sleep in her car for several days and her and her family lost everything they had worked for like so many people affected by the Hurricanes (Katrina and Rita). The show did a great job of showing the kind of mental and emotional wreck going through something like that can take on people. It’s definitely an episode worth checking out (although I admit I skipped through most of Donnie’s parts).

It’s good to see a heartfelt and honest portrayal of people on a reality tv show where most shows tend to create these buffoonish characters. I’m glad that there is a show like MTB4 that shows women getting along and Black women as multi-dimensional to show a contrast to the loud mouth, catty, ignorant b!tches on shows like Flavor of Love. I also have to say that her and Q’s courtship/flirtation kinda made me go “awwwww”. I personally hate dating, but one of the best things about it is that time where you start to realize that you both are feeling each other and it looks like it might be blossoming into something special. According to recent interviews Q and Dawn aren’t actually together (but then again does anyone ever admit to a relationship at first?)…so it’s likely that their flirtation never blossomed into much…but I still think it is cute. I’m interested to see how this shapes up in the future episodes. At the very least I thought it was really sweet how he opened to her about losing his father and the sincerity they showed in their feelings.
Did you check out last night’s episode? Are Dawn and Q as a couple growing on you? Isn’t it crazy how living through something like Katrina can permanently alter how you approach life? What do you think about the brewing feud between Robert and Brian that next week’s previews showed in full effect?

After spending four years in New Orleans for college, with Katrina coming in the middle, I understand what Dawn’s going through. It still affects me. One day, everything was all good. The next day, your apartment is under water.
I don’t know if you can exactly call this show an ‘honest portrayal.’ While no one can deny that the feelings and emotion that Dawn feels is real, the show still has writers and producers. Plus, I just can’t trust or stand Puffy. Hell, Danity Kane told Wendy Williams that they’re broke.
Is Donnie your least favorite person or are you not impressed by him? It was kind of interesting watching him in the studio with Seven. That one song he recorded sounded good but not ground breaking.
Have you heard about what happened to Juvenile’s daughter?
Yo this shit was like out of a movie… The girls randomly introduced to the guys’ vocal coach, Dawn earlier describing her hurt built up inside which lead us to the moment where she had to sing… The vocal coach somehow senses the trouble inside, and pushes her… she doesn’t make it, but you can feel her pain. All the time Q, her flirty love interest stands idol in the background, watching this woman he admires so much hurt so bad. Hours or days later, they both get together at the piano, which gives Q the perfect opportunity to show Dawn that he knows what she’s going through, he feels her pain, he wants to show her he cares. BEAUTIFUL! GIRL I CRIED!
haha MY FAVORITE EPISODE! You know this is why I come back to this page day after day, we on the same hype yall… even down to the hyphy music you say no one listens to… YEAH I STAY IN THE YAY! DONT FORGET YA READERS!! EYY BAYBAAAY
Stallion I like Donnie, but compared to the compelling storyline with Dawn I was just like “womp womp”. That episode was definitely one of my favorite episodes. The way it was put together was done so well. I’m glad I’m not the only sap who teared up watching it.
Ave…as far as the honest portrayal…I was referring more to the fact that they are showing the real parts of their personalities and who they are. I’m sure there are certain manufactured situations (I don’t think the show is scripted though unlike The Hills) like the stand offs with Diddy…but I think the emotion is real. I think what Dawn was feeling was real and it showed that even when a woman is being tough and has a barrier that it’s really to protect her vulnerable side. I think Black women specifically take so much hell for being guarded and hard to crack and people don’t stop to think about what led us to that point. So for that reason…I enjoyed it so much.
Q was wonderful too…trying to relate to her by telling her his situation with his dad. That was just so touching. It just goes to show that you never know what a person has been through in their life unless you stop and look deeper.
Anyway, I did hear about Juvenille’s daughter and I think that is so terrible. Some things though I just don’t like to post.
Gotta love Q… he’s the hometown boy… Rochester, NY all day baby… and inside track… the romance is for real… not for show… he’s already brought her back home…
Sorry I responded so late I just watched it yesterday. Anyway, I was almost in tears trying to watch her connect with the vocal trainer and the other girls. You can really tell she is unintentionally holding back. As for her and Q…they make me sick! They are too adorable…Yeah Im hating on the low, lol.
i think dawn and q make a great couple and i hope dawn says yes to q about going out with him. when they first met each other in the first episode dawn had her lil short booty dress on tryin’ to get some attention. and guess what? SHE DID! and now her and q got some kind of relationship going on. q was freaky in the beggining too
ha-ha
ps: im a making the band fan
i have to agree with u guys the show was great unlike other TV shows such as the Hills where u see all those spoiled brats fighting and bitching for no reason, for once we had a story which a lot of us can relate and feel what people went through and i thank Dawn 2 have come out of it showing us the pain and the best way of dealing with problems is to talk 2 people and let everything out. as 4 Q i love him u can tell he REALLY LIKES her and its CUTE love them both.
