New Music Video: Will.I.Am’s Obama Tribute “Yes We Can” featuring John Legend, Common, Scarlett Johansson, Tatyana Ali, Nicole Scherzinger & More; Plus Everday People for Obama

A dozen celebrities such as John Legend, Common, Scarlett Johansson, Tatyana Ali, Nicole Scherzinger, Hill Harper, Herbie Hancock, Kate Walsh, Esthero, Tracee Ellis Ross, Taryn Manning, Fonzworth Bentley, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Kelly Hu, Amber Valetta, Nick Cannon, Adam Rodriguez, and more came together in support of Will.I.Am’s song “Yes We Can” inspired by Barack Obama’s New Hampshire speech…I’ve listed most of them in the title and is truly a remarkable thing to see so many celebrities unite around Obama’s message of hope and change. In a country that has been so divided for so long, there are a lot of celebrities that don’t want to go out on a limb and support a candidate at the risk of losing fans…however, these celebrities have put their belief and conviction that Obama is the right man for this country above the fear of a backlash. So that got me thinking…

It is my turn to stop saying “I’m not saying you should vote for Obama” and have enough conviction to say “Obama has the desire and determination to heal this nation and I urge you to vote for him. “If people have a problem with me saying that, then oh well. With hundreds of thousands of people across the country of all backgrounds, races, incomes, genders, religions, and every other classification we are broken into, are ending the reign on complacence and apathy and getting involved in the cause to make the country a better place for all people, I would be totally remiss for not using the platform that I have to speak out. I enthusiastically support Obama not only because of his ability to inspire, but because he has a solid plan for getting this country on the right track with his health care, economic, education, and Iraq proposals. If you are one of those people that says “Obama gives great speeches but doesn’t have any substance”, then download “Blueprint for Change- Obama’s Plan for America”  or www.BarackObama.com to get informed.

In my eyes this election isn’t simply a matter of ”who has been in public office the longest”, it is a matter of “who has the best vision for the future and is making it a priority to unite this country and inspire change”. I’m for unity and I’m for person I believe can best achieve that- Barack Obama, because  ”united we stand divided we fall”.  Yes we can- Si Se Puede!!!

What do you guys think of Will.I.Am’s music video? Isn’t it great to see a focus on celebrities doing something productive rather than what parties they are attending and who they are sleeping with? Are you an Obama supporter? Why are you supporting Obama?

*Please post a link of a picture of you and/or your friends in your Obama gear if you have one, and I will edit this post with to include the “everyday people” pictures as I get them!

Will has done it again. This is amazing! This is about change and I gotta believe in this man because I dont have hope in any other candidate. God has blessed me so to live in this lifetime to see this even happen. YES WE CAN people.

words cannot even expressed how inspired I am by the movement Obama has set in motion. He stands for unity and inclusion - and opens the political door to those demographics who for decades have felt politically, socially, economically, & educationally disenfranchised. Obama offers the wearily exhausted American voter whose still angered by the constant failures and let downs of the Bush administration, a change of political ideologies held by the play-by-the-book, systemically corrupt WASPy regime who ignore the voices of their constituents and country in lieu of personal gain, nepotism… the list goes on.

His inspiration shatters party lines, race, gender, and class—- something the other candidates lack or aren’t concern with at all. He serves as the ‘anti’ to the political status quo and thinking of yesteryear. Additionally, Obama offers a breath of fresh air from the two political family dynasties that’s gripped our country for the past few decades.

No candidate has ever made me this passionate for the political future of this country as Obama has. He is setting off a domino effect (even if he isnt elected president).

I agree with you 110% Reecie

Everyone who cares about the future regardless of whichever “group” (or multiples of groups you are a member of) cannot have a better person to step into the voting booth

I am thinking Will I Am is the Diddy of ‘08?

I hope people come out on Super Tuesday and make their voices heard about the necessity of change

    YES WE CAN :-)

Muslims, has-been white celebs and Scarlett Johannson.

    Interesting.

“who has the best vision for the future and is making it a priority to unite this country and inspire change”

amazing that he hasn’t truly outlined ANY of this stuff in detail.

I’ll give ya that but hes better than the guy we have even though he has not outlined too much. My dog is better than the guy we have. The reason why people look at Obama this way is because he i a clean slate. No corruption that i’ve heard of, no lies I know of. And doesnt tell you anything just to win. Only time will tell. But dont be mistaken, he is already better than the guy we have period.

I was actually for Hillary… but if what he is doing now is just a sample of what is to come, then I will vote for Obama. I rather have a President who unites the people and puts faith back in the Government over one who has a very general “plan” for us.

Look, the President isn’t suppose to be as hyped up as Presidents today are… The people are suppose to guide the Government, not the other way around. So if one can inspire the spark inside us to be enlightened, then so be it!

ONCE AGAIN TO ANYONE WHO SAYS THAT HE HASN’T OUTLINED HIS PLANS IN DETAIL GO TO http://www.barackobama.com/pdf/ObamaBlueprintForChange.pdf

He outlines all of his plans in great detail…you just have to take the initiative to become an informed person. If you care about making an intelligent decision then take a few moments to at least read what he has to say.

Anyway…today I attended the Get Out The Vote Rally for Obama at my alma mater UCLA (Go Bruins!) and it was truly an incredible event. Caroline Kennedy, Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama, Stevie Wonder, and Maria Shriver (First Lady of California) spoke and they were all extraordinary!!!! These are people (aside from Michelle) who have NO reason whatsoever to support Obama aside from the fact that they truly believe in his abilities and his vision for this country. The crowd of thousands is full of energy and positivity. Oprah is as amazing as I expected her to be and Michelle is the TRUTH! She is incredibly brilliant, tough, real and insightful. People talk about how great of a speaker Obama is, but she is amazing in her own right.

I’m immensely proud of Obama and being a part of the movement. Whatever happens, the Obama movement has made its mark on history.

    Where’s Thesis?

  10. 10 vpell February 4, 2008 at 4:31 am

Hey Reecie, that’s some pretty good info, I’m still not sold yet, but to tell you the truth that pamphlet means 50000% more to me than a video with celebs (who mean nothing to me).

BTW good news for you, I heard Obama is now basically tied with Clinton in California in Super Tuesday polls, that’s pretty tremendous, and honestly, I didn’t think that would happen.

  11. 11 Jermar February 4, 2008 at 7:08 am

maria Shriver at an Obama rally? i thought hse would be lock step with her republican husband arnold or be mum on her candidate support. good for her.

and i totally agree, no matter of the outcome of the election, Obama has most certtainly made a historical mark, i believe its setting off a domino effect of change, whether it be small incremental changes…

Great video. He’s a great man. I hope he wins. I’m running to the polls after work tomorrow. WE WANT CHANGE!

    Thanks Reecie

I am surprised when I here people talk about Obama being a good orator but having ‘little substance’.

At his blueprint for change website there’s the short version, the long detailed version and even a speech on each theme.

I think it’d even be better if he had someone signing ASL in a box beside him in the speeches (and my bad if that is already the case) so that he can also provide information in a format that includes the deaf community.

But I am proud of this man, like everyone whose put in their two cents has said: finally, we have a reason to believe in hope and dreaming again

    Yes WE Can
    Obama ‘08

Asupreme…Thesis has been awol since October.

Vpell…thank you for taking the time to read the information. So many people are too lazy to read what Obama is about and what he is trying to accomplish and are content with just repeating “he has no substance”.

JNell…he actually does have someone doing sign language at every one of his rallies. There was someone doing sign language at yesterday’s rally even though he wasn’t there.

Maria Shriver has always been a Democrat and said that her husband being a Republican governor wasn’t going to change that. However, I am still surprised that she came out and publicly endorsed Obama…and at the rally you could tell she was surprised too! lol. Her endorsement really means a lot, because she is a powerful voice in California. We haven’t really had any big names from California to come out and support Obama so she gave us all a voice.

I know a lot of people have been making this race out to be Men vs. Women…but as a woman, I couldn’t have felt more proud to see 4 remarkable, fiercely strong, brilliant women on stage following their own heart and advocating for a real change in this country.

Oprah said it best, “Yes I am a woman, but I am a free woman. As a free woman I am allowed to follow my own truth and that truth has led me to Barack Obama!”

Obama is closely the gap, and the momentum is on his side. Hopefully people will turn out and make history tomorrow.

Yes we can! Si Se Puede!
