New Videos: Cheri Dennis, Jaheim, Tamia + Alicia Keys’s Tyra Show Performance

Cheri Dennis finally has a new video for her single “Portrait of Love” featuring Yung Joc  and Gorilla Zoe. The video is pretty simple but she does a lot more with her styling than she did for her first video and even throws in a little choreography. I kinda like the song, but I’m not 100% sold on it and I don’t know if the video will be enough to put her over the top.

Jaheim has a new video for his new single “Never”. The intro dramatization is pretty dumb, since I don’t think any rational woman would react that way to hearing some random chick in the background when her dude is in a public place…but other than that the video is pretty great. I love the lyrics to this song and in a music market saturated by folks talking about one night stands, cheating, pimps up hoes down, etc…I’m always happy to hear a song a positive love tip. I see that Jaheim hit the gym before he made his comeback and he’s looking pretty good lol. The scene in the clothing store where he tells the clerks to keep his jersey was pretty cute and clever. I like the message this song is sending…definitely a winner in my book.

Tamia has a new video for her song “Almost”. The lyrics of the song are pretty interesting…I can’t recall ever hearing a song about someone missing something they’ve never had. The closest thing I can compare it to is the classic “Just My Imagination”. Anyway, the song is nice and Tamia looks great for having a baby a short while ago. My only gripe is that Tamia rarely has a male opposite in her videos or has any kind of real plot, so all of her videos look the same. Maybe she doesn’t want to spend a lot of money on a video, but putting some creativity into her video concepts will make more people interested in her music.

Alicia Keys performed her new single “Like You’ll Never See Me Again” on the Tyra Banks Show. She did a wonderful job with her performance and you can tell that she just gives it her all every time she hits the stage. It’s great to hear the same richness her live performance that it is so brilliant in the recording. Alicia is having a helluva year with the monster success of her album and I must say that it is much deserved and refreshing to see R&B on top for a change.

What do you think about these new videos? Do you like Cheri’s new more vamped up style? Isn’t it nice to hear a love song from Jaheim? Should Tamia step out the box more for her videos? Do you guys Alicia’s performance on Tyra a thumbs up or thumbs down?

I love Alicia Keys! Nuff said! Jaheim i kinda got into his music by acciedent. As I type this I’m listening to his album Ghetto Classics. I’m waiting on a new album and nothingf with title Ghetto. As far as Cheri Dennis. I got her single off Itunes by mistake and turn around and bought her album. Tamia is always a fave of mine.

Cheri looks really pretty in her vid, but I’d have to say I agree with you in saying that I’m not 100% sold.

Jaheim’s vid - bad acting, lol, and it annoys me greatly how the music keeps stopping, but it’s an ok song.

Tamia - That’s probably my favorite song on that cd, as I truly relate to not taking advantage of an opportunity at a relationship (by playing by a certain set of personal rules, i.e., not giving out my number or whatever it may be) and then regretting it badly afterward which causes me to miss what ‘could have been’. As far as the video, she looks absolutely beautiful, but that’s the perfect song to have a true storytelling video, and they didn’t take advantage of it, which is unfortunate.

Alicia - gotta love her passion she puts into her performances (and her songwriting foremost). I think she did a pretty good job on the Tyra show.

lol…so true! I don’t know why he felt the need to always include the word Ghetto in everything he did when he was just making good music.

I thought it was annoying too how they kept stopping the music, especially since there wasn’t any dialogue in the pauses…but the ending makes it worth watching.

Cheri looks real nice in the video. I’m excited to see it. P. Diddy has been sleeping on her and she’s finally releasing an album which I’m excited for. You can actually but it on iTunes now and it’s not too shabby. Anyhoo I like this song “Pretend” by her:

The beat is killing them isn’t it?

    I also like Spaced Out:

Jahiem I used to love… happy he did a ballad too. I dunno what is going on in that video though. Hehehe.

..and Tamia is so purrty, but you’re right — same look for every video. She’s capable of better.

And my favorite right now: Alicia. Still blowing up real big. She sounds a little horse but it works with this track… I really can see and feel her passion with this performance and the rift on the end! Wow, definately two thumbs up…not to mention she looks flawless. Definitely refreshing.

Sup Reecie… That song by Cheri Dennis sounds like some old school Jody Watley joint.. I’m not feeling it at all.. I love Tamia and I like that song, too bad she’s never really gotten the shine she deserves…
