HM Video: Snoop Dogg - Sensual Seduction

Eskay said it best - “You may think you’re ready for this video, but you’re not. You have been warned.”

BUT

Snoop made this video already.  Well, a video that is VERY similar.  Only with a different artist named LaToiya Williams for a song called “Fallen Star.” Yes, Sensual Seduction has more of a Rick James flavor sprinkled with Eddie Murphy, but I still accuse Snoop for biting his former artist for his latest video concept.

Despite the fact that Snoop sounds like T-Pain and he took the concept from his former artist, I think the song and the video is hot. I can’t wait to hear this one in the club!

Which video do you like better? Do you think Snoop should’ve created a more unique video for his latest single? Or is it fair game because every other rap video is virtually the same video? Whatcha think of the song? Does it sound too much like T-Pain or is it cool?

Props to Elevated for having the exclusive on the single a couple of months back.

The video is……wow. I haven’t decided if I like the video yet, but I already love the song. I don’t think video and the song go together at all actually. The retro look definitely went better with the Latoiya’s song.

mmmm this video goes so hard… u need to be standin at an angle from the west coast’s perspective… yay area perspective. this style is deffinitly a style mac dre or smoov-e would bolster in their performances. in the words of the late thizzlamic presidente and cheif, this is MACC-A-DOSHES =]

The video was very left field, but I love that he is doing something different (even if different is something that has already been done before). I would like to point out that this isn’t the first time that Snoop has gone the old school mack route…he did a Player’s Ball video for his song “Doggy Dog World” and that video was off the hook. So…technically he isn’t jacking Latoiya Williams video.

Only an artist like Snoop can pull something like this & make it totally dope. Big props to Snoop for doing something different especially in a time where everybody is sounding the same.
As far as the TPain comparisons, people tend to forget that the Auto Tune effect (IT’S NOT A VOCODER PEOPLE!) has been in play since the software was out in the late 90’s. Just cuz one person decides to make that his calling card doesn’t automatically mean that everybody else henceforth is biting….
That being said, I cannot wait for a time when the industry pops out talent that doesn’t need that auto tune crutch… If you can’t sing in tune, don’t make a record dammit!

I saw this video last night…. he did remakes of all the old school videos like prince and i think earth wind and fire…and others….

On one hear, i think I like the song….and the video is creative for a few watches but i do not know if i want to see it 100s of times

This blog is really funny to me because you always get something wrong. How can Snoop sound like T-Pain? T-Pain does not own that style of music. In fact, T-Pain sounds like Roger Troutman… if you want to look at it that way. Snoop has been doing songs with Roger Troutman for years. So if anything, he sounds like Roger Troutman. If you don’t know, you better ask somebody. Or at least look up some shit on Wikipedia…

the fallen star vid is terrible. The sensual seduction video is different enough to stand on its own. If you can’t see that then you’re a dumb bitch. The sensual seduction video is great.

steve how did i know you would write a post about this song! :-)

you know what…i really like it!

i probably should feel bad about that or something but…i mean, i really don’t.

he do sound a bit like t-pain but whatever i think this song is great.

he sounds like T-Pain. T-Pain can ONLY sing with computer effects and that’s how he makes his money and hit records. T-Pain isn’t famous for hitting high notes like Maxwell. Snoop has the “2007 T-Pain Computer Effects” voice.

I am from LA. I know all about Roger and Zapp. BlackStreet brought it back for a while too. Dre used it in California Love.

But comparing T-Pain and Snoop singing to Roger and Zapp is an insult. Nuff said.

    Snoop is hilarious.

  17. 17 Session November 30, 2007 at 6:09 pm

It isn’t a software effect. T-Pain and Snoop used hardware called AutoTune. Roger Troutman used a talkbox, vocoder instrument. Roger Troutman was the one “singing” in Califorina, he’s in the helicopter. Far as this statement goes “comparing T-Pain and Snoop singing to Roger and Zapp is an insult.” it doesn’t apply.

It just came on MTV Hits…so, obviously they’re pushing to make this one popular.
