Jay-Z has a new video for his song “Roc Boys”. I gotta say that this video is dope! Although the whole drug kingpin album theme is so not my cup of tea, I give him total credit for making an interesting video with a great dramatic twist to it. Of course it shows off his luxurious lifestyle with cameos from several of his famous friends including Mariah Carey, Diddy, Jadakiss, and Cassie…but there is also a narrative aspect between the lyrics and the tension that is created in the video by subtle acting. For once someone made a “to be continued” video that actually makes you want to find out what happens next. Great video and I love the “Hello Brooklyn” intro.
What do you think about the video? Could he have done more with the video or did he get it just right?

The video is definitely dope, and I love how he used the “Young Hov” kid who was basically makin a buck coppin Jigga’s swag to his own benefit.
The 40/40 looks so good in this video… too bad it’s nothing like that in real life.
I loved 40/40 when I went there! The energy was great and the music was cool. I’m going back when I hit up NY for my Christmas vacay.
This video is bananas…this on and Lupe’s “Superstar” are sick. Chris Robinson and Hype Williams pop your collars.
One.
Incredible
Did chris robinson direct the common video b/c similar type of video … looks real instead of the now generic cliché club scenes.
The video is dope but i really didnt like the young jigga thing b/c ddot for the kids and i can see a young kid in his room thinking he will hustle and one day become jay-z.
Eh…
Better than Blue Magic, I think it gets the job done well. Some of it was kinda dry, maybe it’s since it’s just a TV-rip right now…
8/10, love the storyline and cliffhanger. Good job Hovi.
