There is a difference between Aaliyah as a grown woman singing “Rock the Boat” (Which is tame compared to 90% of what’s on the market anyway) and her earlier music “Back & Forth”, “One In a Million”, etc. She grew up…but she didn’t become crass and vulgar. Plus…Aaliyah’s market at the time of “Rock The Boat” was much more adult than teeny bopper.

Ok so Usher doesn’t count in the innocent category…but I still maintain that Aaliyah, Brandy, and Monica were all in the safe zone with age appropriate content for their market. Maybe you’re a bit younger so their later material came out during your puberty stages

I would disagree on Aaliyah, Brandy, Monica, and Usher being completely safe and sex free. Shit “Rock The Boat” was an eye-opener to me. Usher… “drop top cruisin the street” with “plans to put my hands in places I’ve never seen, girl you know what I mean.”

Innocent… I think not.
