I don’t mind paying to see a Tyler Perry movie with a Tyler Perry audience. Hell, that’s half the fun: hearing a partisan crowd crack up, break down, suck its teeth, scream at the abusers, tsk-tsk the nincompoops, and, inevitably, go awww. (As the New York Times noted—twice—last weekend, Perry’s fans love talking back to his movies.)

Great review. I agree with a lot of the other posters in that this is really a mark of how Tyler has grown over the years. You just give Tyler time, he will show all of those critics what he’s made of.

Tyler Perry has made some many HORRIBLE past shows, plays, movies that I will NEVER waste another cent or second of time on his products.. Not to mention he looks funny as hell!!!

I saw Janet on the trailers for this movie and let me just say she better pull out another tittie soon because she looked like stir fried shit!! I guess she’s just trying to keep up the with her manz in them Jermaine Dupree

Monique, Janet was looking a little homely in the movie. Maybe that was the point to make people see “Angie” and not Janet Jackson. But that one scene with her an Malik Yoba…she was amazing. I forgot homegirl could act!

This was his best film! Personally, I was gettin tired of seeing Madea. But i agree with Reecie. He did everything RIGHT. And Tasha Smith (Angela in the movie) was HILARIOUS! Probably the best part of the film… Ya’ll brothers (and some of ya’ll ladies) need to get up on the 80/20 rule!

Sidebar: am i the only one who thinks that Janet looks like a little old lady in this movie? lol i’m just saying…

I can’t get into his movies either. I used to get into his plays, but that was before he started to recycle the plot of each one (if you seen them all you know what I’m talking about). But I can’t knock what he does, he actually tries to portray black people in a positive light, and that’s commendable.

I respect Tyler Perry for the type of movie he does and putting black people in a positive light and all that good stuff but for some reason I can’t get into his movies. I’m not a fan but I respect what he does.

I’m sure i’ll get to watching the movie at some point but all I have to say is that Tyler Perry is a bankable writer and director in Hollywood. I give this brotha mad props…He’s holdin’ down Lionsgate. lol
