What Are Your Guilty Pleasures in Music, Movies, TV, Video Games?

We all have our guilty entertainment pleasures in life. A lot of people would be kinda surprised to find the kind of things I love to watch and listen to. I call most of these things my guilty pleasures because a lot of them are just downright sleazy or shows that I’m obsessed with. So it makes me wonder…what’s lurking on your Tivo, in your IPOD, or in your DVD player that nobody would be able to guess? To break the ice…I’ll start off with my list.

Television:

I’m totally a reality tv junkie. And by reality tv that includes Maury Povich (who doesn’t love the suspense of paternity tests?), People’s Court, the Amazing Race, Big Brother,American Idol, America’s Next Top Model, pretty much any dating show, and prank shows like Boiling Points and Hell Date. I must also profess my love for game shows like Family Feud and my all time favorite Fear Factor.

On a much more productive note…right now I’m addicted to Flip That House, Property Ladder, and Sweat Equity. I love home improvement shows and the educational aspect of it.

Finally, I loooove Law & Order and CSI. I can watch those shows all day long back to back…but I prefer the originals to all of the spinoffs.

Movies:

I love scary movies! I’m actually kind of a punk and a little squeemish when it comes to these movies, but I can’t help but love them anyway. I can’t stand dramas or sappy movies… bring on the gore, the suspense, and the action!

So HM readers…it’s your turn…what are your entertainment guilty pleasures? What shows, movies, or music do you love but wouldn’t want to admit to in the light of the day? What entertainment items are you obsessed with? Do any of my items make your list as well?

    3. Apple Pie…errr….Mrs. Smith Crumb Apple pie….preferably cold but will take it warm with some vanilla ice cream…..my fav dessert and a weakness of mine….it’s like straight up kryptonite on ya boi. lol

    My guilty pleasures:

    1. This season of the Hill. For some reason this season of the hill got me sucked in. I never watch the show before.

    2. Star Trek. I love, love, love, love, love this series. It’s the best thing to ever hit TV. I’m collecting all 750 episodes on DVD and I also love New Voyage. So far I’ve collected every episodes from Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise. I’m plan to start collecting more The Next Generation and of course the Original one. I’ve been to conventions as well, collected action figures, and all that good stuff.

    3. Science Fiction/fantasy - In addition to Star Trek I’m a big science fiction and fantasy fan. I loved Sliders, The X-files, Stargate, Hercules, Xena, Smallville

    4. Comic Book movie - I’m a big fan of all these comic book moives being release. I’ve seen them all.

I also like other stuff but I need more time to think about it.

TV: I’ll get down on Wife Swap. I love when the new moms make the spoiled little 14 yr old cry and run to her pops because she can’t get away with murder anymore. I’m waiting for that scandalous episode where the husband wants the temporary wife more than his real wife. They need to get Will and Jada on there.

Music: I find myself listening to some Prince sometimes. “Adore” has got to be my favorite cut. “You can burn up my clothes, you can smash up my ride…… Well, uh, maybe not the ride…”

Movies: I’m an action/thriller/suspense type. But I don’t mind a chick flick staring the likes of say Mandy Moore or Hilary Swank. One of those movies where the chick has horrible luck in relationships and doesn’t find her one true love until breaking his heart, with another cooler more shallow guy.

    Stallion-

That’s a lot of star trek fam! lol

What kills me on Maury (which I might have to add to my list) is how the woman says the baby looks just like the dude. “He got yo eyes, he got yo nose, etc…” Man at 4 months old that baby look like anybody of the same complexion.

My xbox 360: Golf, soccer, rpg’s, mostly gears of war, especially with my buddies from past jobs and old colleges till 9 in tha morning sumtimes I show up to school looking hung over or sometimes not at all.

Also eating out: 5 star spots/ bodegas it don’t matter there ain’t a food spot I haven’t eaten at I try everything and if i like something I eat it till i’m sick of it.

Lemonade: I swear if I ever blow up that will be my side hustle vitamin wateresque gig.

Cosby show, the hills/laguna beach, and fosters home for imaginary friends: I will show up late for my engagement if any of those shows are one that’s a FACT.

Music: I physically get cranky if I can’t find a playlist that fits my mood. I also won’t get out of the car till a hot song has finished playin.

  12. 12 Captain Awesome October 12, 2007 at 4:50 am

    1) Equity Research is my passion also studying the market and monitoring rare companies.
    2) Research- Research is my life whether its statistics, innocuous details from a photo taken 35 years ago or an arbitrary article at work. I read 4 newspapers a day, 100’s of books mostly about race or trivial shit. I can not help myself.
    3) Runts-I love the bananas and the pink ones
    4) Polo (Black Label) The skinny black suits are top notch I like the brown suits too.
    5) Cashmere anything V-neck, Cardigan, socks, scarves, whatever I prefer Marc Jacobs
    6) Art-I enjoy attending gallery openings and purchasing modern art from lesser known artists. I have this one vase that was appraised for 5k my friends ash in it, who knew!!
    7) Documentaries-Do not get me started on Burns latest adaptation of the War. 8) John Lobb laceups.
    9) Horticulture-I have a small garden it helps nullify my insatiable need for debauchery. I give my tomatoes to my neighbors when im bored I drop them off the roof, sure fire way to ruin someones day.
10)Charity Work-I know someone can relate to this one. I’m unhappy with many of the decisions that transpire at work which spills into my personal life, watching helplessly as people lose everything they have takes a toll eventually. Do not get me wrong I do not lose sleep over it but it bothers me. Sometimes I can help mom & dad spots anonymously I feel better a bit.
    11) Tanqueray 10 & Tonic (sigh)

    This was fun

*I know my descent into geekdom is scary

  19. 19 Emme October 12, 2007 at 10:58 pm

LOL @ all the self proclaimed nerds!

Music - Anytime a man is singing I WILL LISTEN! LOL! It’s just something about a man’s voice over a beat…

TV - It rots the brain. LOL. Plus I broke mine like 3 months ago, so ummmm….. Hell, I feel smarter without a TV. LOL!

Shopping - I am a TARGET JUNKIE! I am also a home junkie. Like, I will by stuff for my house before I buy clothes…

Hot Guy Friends - I’ve never had a guy friend that I wasn’t attracted to in some form or fashion. *sigh* That’s the “Brown Sugar” in me.

  20. 20 BklynQueen'86 October 13, 2007 at 4:27 pm

The Cosby Show is not a guilty pleasure…watch that with pride!

Shows: Disney Channel shows which I’ll refrain from listing. The Game, Gossip Girl, Dirty Sexy Money…and those cancelled ABC shows from last season(Daybreak and The Nine). Reruns of any of these, no matter how dated they are: Sister Sister, Family Matters(so hard to watch post 90s but if its on I will), The Parent Hood, Perfect Strangers, Kate and Allie, Growing Pains, Charles in Charge, Who’s the Boss, Pepper Ann.

Countdown shows, especially the ones on VH1…because we all need to know the best toy of 1976?
The History Channel, Food Network, Discovery Channel, PBS and TLC channels.

Chick lit novels: those things are worse for you than TV, but I discovered them and I love them..even the ones aimed at younger kids.

    Movies:
Newsies (and most other musicals except Grease 2) was a really cheesy musical made by Disney about a newsboy strike against Hearst…and Vinnie from Doogie Howser is in it I think, along with Christian Bale. It’s horrid, but I watch it every time it comes on, downloaded the script when I was in high school, and can sing the songs.
The Five Heartbeats…and anything else from Robert Townsend. I think he’s genius and Hollywood Shuffle should get more respect..but there’s little excuse for the accents in The Mighty Quinn or The Meteor Man in general
Pay it Forward..such a tear jerker.
    Elf
    Old School

    Clothing:
Four years ago I had it bad for tees with my hometown on it…
    Winter Gloves and Earrings.

Music Artists: Bow Wow…I dont know why.
    Actors: Lee Thompson Young

Supermarkets: Whole Foods. That place is addictive.

Newspapers: The New York Post. Horrible standards, but pretty addictive
