Just because the crowd cheers, it doesn't mean that there is something to cheer about. Oscar would get Mayweather on the ropes near the end of a round and made it appear that he was throwing a bunch of punches and doing damage. When they showed the instant replay at the end of the round, you could see that he wasn't landing anything. In a way that was a good game plan, the judges often remember the last thing they see in a round. Floyd was laughing and playing around with Oscar. Oscar didn't HURT Floyd, or even come close, except for catching him off guard with a jab once or twice maybe. I was disappointed that Floyd didn't do more. You could tell that he was holding back. I think the Pretty Boy could have knocked De La Hoya out but preferred to keep it safe. WHY? I don't know.

Most fight fans want to see someone get beat down, bloodied up & knocked OUT! IMO, a lot of boxers aren't really trying to put on that kind of show these days. Some of the newcomers that are trying to make a name for themselves to get bigger fights in order to make more money are a little more inclined to try to win in a devastating fashion. The old heads don't have to prove anything to anybody anymore. They play it safe and collect their huge paychecks and aren't fazed that they aren't the fan favorite.

I think it will be a long time before there is another fight with this type of hype attached to it. There may be some interesting match-ups in the upcoming months but nothing that will bring this level of excitement.

Fight Schedule
May 19th: Jermain Taylor vs. Cory Spinks
June 9th: Miguel Cotto vs. Zab Judah
July 7th: Wladimir Klitschko vs. Lamon Brewster
July 21st: Winky Wright vs. Bernard Hopkins

Hmmmmph...I watched the whole thing and I will say this...Oscar didn't do tons to counter Mayweather's offense and defense. Mayweather didn't seem to have thrown a whole lot of punches but when he did, he sure was accurate. After the 8th round you could tell that De La Hoya was getting fatigued. Mayweather's endurance was impeccable. Oscar did a couple of fowl plays during the match i.e- Holding on to Mayweather while puching the body. That was a lil weak.

There were like only 1 or 2 punches that Oscar threw in the WHOLE MATCH that seemed to catch Mayweather off guard. Oscar's hands were definitely more busy than Mayweather but they didn't carry a lot of sting. Mayweather's agility and speed is absolutely insane and I give Oscar a lot of credit for staying in the ring for the whole 12 round without getting knocked down at all.

Both men stood their ground amongst each other but it woulda been nice to see at least ONE knock down. Mayweather's cockiness is a lil annoying but in boxing you need a mojo. Mayweather definitely backed his up! As far as who I thought deserved to win, I can't really call it to be honest with you. I think if the fight was 14 rounds, as opposed to 12, we would have seen De La Hoya falter cause he was truly getting tired and was getting hit with more punches.

I think there needs to be a rematch cause it aint like Mayweather did a lot of damage. I just think that Oscar needs to tweak his strategy a lil better. He was very effective against mayweather when he cornered him as opposed to trying to pair with him in the middle of the ring. De La Hoya did have some very sweet combos against Mayweather a few times.

At the end of the day, it's about the numbers and Mayweather added his up to a victory......REMATCH!!!!
