The best one by far…I wish Beyonce made more music like this. What do you think? Has this been the best video and song that has leaked from the B-Day re-release?
I think she’s sexy in it because she doesn’t really mean to be…like, it’s supposed to be sweet and cute. Which isn’t to say she isn’t sexy when she’s writhing on the ground. I just like this better.
So…bits and pieces of Bey’s stuff have been leaking, and since I’m sure some of you are anxious to get caught up to speed and some of you are so sick of her you don’t want to hear anything else about her…I’ve put all of the B’Day deluxe stuff in one post for you to go to or skip over…so enjoy.
Freakum Dress- The choreography in the video is hot…I love all of the dress changes, plus what woman doesn’t love to get dressed up? This is the kind of song that makes a woman feel sexy and fierce on her way out to the club. This is actually a pretty enjoyable video.
Kitty Kat- I’m disappointed that this video is just a snippet of a the album version, since this is one of my favorite songs on the album. Considering how plain it is, it’s definitely kind of pointless. The song is so feisty that she could’ve done a lot more with it…but this video boils down to filler.
Get Me Bodied- The creativity and choreography of this video are off the hook! If this video doesn’t make you want to get up and shake ya a$$ then someone needs to check and see if you still have a pulse. The cameos by Kelly, Michelle, Solange are cool but borderline pointless since they don’t do much dancing. This is one of the best videos on the deluxe edition, since it really does capture the party feel.
Green Light- I’m a little on the fence with this video…on the one hand there really isn’t much to the video, but on the other hand I really dig the throwback 80s look and the rocking out she does. If she hadn’t done all of her videos in one week and really focused on conveying the song’s lyrics, she could’ve really came out with a dope video for this song. Nonetheless…if you were to see this video apart from the others, I think you would like it.
Suga Mama- Not much to really be said about this video since it’s another video with pretty much Beyonce and a few other people doing a few dance moves here and there. This was one of those songs I always skipped over, so perhaps that’s why I’m not more enthused about it.
Also, you can hear 4 new tracks (Welcome to
Hollywood”, “Flaws and All”, “Amore Gitano”, and “Oye (Listen)”) from Beyonce’s Deluxe Edition Bday over at AOL.
What do you think of the new material? Is it worth going out and buying the deluxe edition? Did you ever think it was possible for Beyonce to be more over-exposed than she already is? Do you think she did these videos, because of her lower than expected album sales? Which video/new song is the best?
Apparently Joss Stone has the mistaken impression that having a No. 2 album on the Billboard 200 chart makes her some kind of authority on the state of R&B music. In an interview with Giant Magazine, Joss Stone criticizes R&B singers today as “highly paid strippers”. First…I’m going to need to remind her that she is bucky naked in her album cover and inside album artwork all over a bucky naked man. Granted she has body paint all over her…but that doesn’t make much of a difference. Second, I’m going to need someone who just got put all on blast for f&cking for tracks, to keep her mouth shut about anybody else’s scruples in the industry. Third, I’m going to need her to get the memo that she is not R&B, she’s just a girl who swagger jacks soul music. But I digress…she also apparently has beef with Christina Milian (who dated Stone’s ex-boyfriend Beau Dozier).
EURweb has the story:
While Stone had some harsh criticism for today’s crop of R&B singers, her most scathing words were saved specifically for singer-actress Christina Milian, who just so happens to be the ex-girlfriend of her ex-boyfriend, Beau Dozier.
When Christina Milian’s name came up in conversation, Stone, according to writer Aliya S. King, “doesn’t bother to hide her disdain for the woman who Dozier, now Stone’s ex-boyfriend, once dated.” Stone told King: “I could tell you some stories about her… ,” then launched into a “profanity-laced tirade against the pop star.”
King writes: “After I point to my tape recorder, reminding her that she’s on record, Stone doesn’t quit. Instead, she continues to go off on Milian and, even worse, Milian’s mother. ‘I’m just honest,’ Stone concludes with a shrug.”
“Christina has never met Joss,” Milan’s publicist responds. “She can’t imagine what this is all about.”
Now…although one can argue that a lot of R&B singers dress provocatively for their stage shows or videos, or even dance provocatively…calling them “high paid strippers” is definitely a stretch. And nobody bares their assets more than the likes of Christina Aguilera’s and Britney Spears…so for her to be speaking on R&B is out of pocket. Anyways…all I have left to say about Joss Stone is simply this, “Hoe sit down!”
So what do you think about Joss Stone criticizing R&B singers? How catty is it to trash talk Christina Million because she dated Joss Stone’s ex? Isn’t Joss a hypocrite for calling R&B singers highly paid strippers, when she’s damn near naked on her cd?
Usher confirmed his engagement to longtime stylist, girlfriend (30 something mother of a few kids) Tameka Foster to MTV news. Here is what Usher had to say:
“I’m engaged now,” he said, smiling. The Grammy winner even said he could be walking down the aisle before the end of this year. “
He also spoke on a possible November release of a new studio album:
“I feel it’s about time for me to come out with an album… I’m not extremely enthused about where music has gone. I say that coming from listening to artists like Stevie Wonder, Prince, Michael Jackson — those great artists and iconic musicians. I feel music is at a standstill”
So what do you think about the news that Usher is engaged? Isn’t it funny how just 2 years ago Ursh wasn’t ready to settle down and now he’s engaged? Are you looking forward to new music from Usher?
Once again, all the HM contributors are extremely busy with our professional lives. Granted - we much rather blog than deal with the stresses of the real world, but we have priorities to handle. Rather than not posting during this busy time - thehonorable (and maybe Reecie and Thesis) will post random “quickies” of current music and gossip via other sites until things get back to normal. Phonte - Take On Me (listen)
Phonte on the vocals…not as Percy Miracles. Another banger from the Little Brother camp:
Phonte’s quote about the song:
And on a final note, I’d like to send a BIG shout out to Nicolay on his lost bet. Long story short, this nigga bet me that I couldn’t hit the high note in the chorus of me and Zo’s cover of “Take On Me” (which is available for download on our player). The loser of the bet had to treat the other’s family to Sunday dinner.
Chauncey Black - Ride or Die (ft. Young Buck and Rah Digga) (Produced by Sha Money XL) (listen)
Remember Chauncey Black from Blackstreet? I heard he was signed to Busta’s Flipmode Label.
Robin Thicke - SOS Baby (Produced by the Neptunes) (listen)
Mike Jones - My 64 (listen)
Huey - Pop Lock and Drop It (Remix) ft. Ebony Eyes and Kiddtrail (listen)
I saw this (video) on 106 and Park today…interesting….
I know this is old, but Three 6 Mafia’s Doe Boy Fresh (listen) is my shit right now…
Speaking of Three 6 Mafia, I think I may get suckered into coonery on Viacom’s stations with their Adventures of Hollyhood show.
This is NOT hip-hop. This is NOT hot. This is NOT Fly.
This is NOT Mims (read this great article about MIMS = Hot).
First of all….i’m a huuuuuuge Jay fan but why the hell would Jay do a track with Mysterious…Here’s my reasons why this could be a Jay clone or Angelous. (memba him? lol)
1. When was the last time you heard Jay refer to himself as 8th Wonder?
- Not since Blueprint…seems like someone is tryna be too intricate for their own good.
2. Jay’s flow is quite Threat-esque…
-Our colleague over at PostedOnTheYard picked that up but would Jay-Z really make it that obvious with a synonymous flow from a track that’s over 3 years old? Jay continue to reinvent the flow so why would he re-use an old jawn?
3. “Bought to bring it to you raw, ya heard?” “Ya heard?”
-Jay was sayin “ya heard” back during the Volume 2/3 days….it just seems rather forced…
4. Original Jay line: “I’m dope like poppy seed.” (makes sense)
- Clone’s line: “Ever since heroin taught me to flow, there on I was clear gone, always was dope” (pretty damn clever line)
I dunno folks…i think this is a clone…whaddaya think? Does Jay really have time in his itinerary to do a track wit no-name Mysterious? What does Jay have to benefit from this track? He mentioned in his ASAP freestyle that he’s rebuilding ROCAFELLA…is this the 1st step? I dunno folks….
Someone out there definitely has their Jay voice on point but for those who are true Jay fans, are you convinced? Is this Hovie or Clonie?
So even though i’m stuck in the airport, i’m killin this track haaaaard….i thought i might have the family join in the festivities with me. lmao…enjoy the video and you can dload the song….get ya wu-tang dance and sponge bob dance on(oh yes, there is a sponge bob dance) gotta love our youth today….
Not that anyone would be interested but i’ve been on a business trip for the past three days training for the J.O…so after a long three days all i wanna do is go home…nope…can’t be that easy…I am held prisoner at Philadelphia Int’l Airport for the next 4 hours…flight delayed and i had to buy this wi-fi connection. Blah….could be a whole lot worse I guess but right now i’m heated!!! Well….I guess i should blog….just thought i’d share my frustration!!!

*listening to Neyo’s “Call Me Crazy”……..”that’s what you do to me….that’s what you do…”
Maroon 5 is the hybrid between funk and rock. These has to be some of the funkiest white boys since Average White Band and possibly, Teena Marie. While “Makes Me Wonder” isn’t “This Love,” it’s still refreshing to hear Maroon 5 funky guitar riffs over the rock electric guitars and drums. This will be a hit…and I am looking forward to their follow-up, It Won’t Be Soon Before Long.
Nikki Flores - Suffocate (Produced by Danja Hands and Written by The Clutch) (listen)
This track is interesting. What happens when you put the team behind Omarion’s “Icebox” with the 2007 version of Paula Deanda? Let me rephrase the question: What happens when you put the mastermind behind Timbaland’s pop-music takeover (Danja Hands) and the second most sought after songwriting team (Ne-Yo is the most sought-after) with Nikki Flores, projected to be to latin-pop R&B crossover in 2007? Well, you get a damn good song…The production could be more unique, but the songwriting and the vocal production is superb. Watch out for the Clutch and Danja
Keith Sweat and Keyshia Cole - Love You Better (listen)
I don’t know anything about this song. I doubt it’s new and I heard that it may be hard to find or possibly unreleased. But the song has a typical late 90s vibe with a stupid topic. Keith Sweat and Keyshia Cole are trying to convince each other to leave their spouse because they can love better. YAWN!!!
