Rep Yo Slang!!!

Slang

Okay okay..so by now maybe some of ya’ll will know that i reps, as Bleek would put it, New Yiddy. You may also be aware that it is New York that influences all the slang and styles out there (ooooooh, i know ima catch one for that!…where we at Reecie & Honorable?…East side ride or die. lmao….capo status)

Anyway, back to the topic at hand, regardless of where you’re from or what set/area/region/apartment complex/suburb/gentrified community, you represent, you have some form of vernacular that is special.  So Friends of HM, rep yo slang and let the world know what to expect from your area.  I think much of the NY slang is already known so I won’t drop it 1st. Anyone Nebreskans wanna go 1st? *chuckle*

    ex: “Here comes Dwight”

    “Friday the 13th”- Ugly human.

  2. 2 Reecie February 27, 2007 at 12:47 pm

lol@Dibiase…I’ve never heard any of those slang terms.

LA has a lot of slang…unfortunately I’m probably not the best person to ask. Besides…if I told you all of my personal slang words…I’d have to come up with new ones to make my point on the sly lol.

  3. 3 Thesis February 27, 2007 at 1:03 pm

lol @ Dwight…what’s the etymology of that?

  4. 4 Nate February 27, 2007 at 1:26 pm

ha shit that friday the 13th ish cracks me up dibiase

  5. 5 DiBiase February 27, 2007 at 1:32 pm

^From dealing with people at work or customers. At first it was “The White man” then “The White” then “Da White” then we just started saying it like someones name “Dwight”. So we would give the impression to white people or anybody really that we where talking about a man named Dwight, so we did’nt have to be covert about it lol.

  6. 6 Thesis February 27, 2007 at 1:42 pm

    wow son! covert ops shyt!

  10. 10 Toto March 21, 2007 at 3:54 pm

    I’m from houston.
I dunno about any “new” slangs but I know we got:

Woof Ticket/Dub (they both mean the same thing): Basically, telling a lie.

“Nelly came to my house last night.”
    “Man, thats a DUB!”
    or
    “I have a 20 in cock.”
“Man, that nicca selling woof tickets.”

Outta There: Means alot of stuff. Could be crazy, loud, silly.
Example, my best friend tried to tell this dude I wanted to talk to him. He wasn’t exactly the cutest. I looked at her & was like “Girl, you OUTTA THERE!!!” lol but it could go for alot of stuff.

    Straight: Alright.
“You wanna buy this bootleg of 300?”
    “Naw man. I’m straight.”

Raw: Kinda like “OUTTA THERE!”. Could go for anything.
Example, one time me & my boyfriend were at McD’s. He ordered some food but two burgers were missing. The lady copped an attitude, talking bout she put everything in there. He told her “Hell naw. Ur fast ass probably ate it.” I shook my head & told him “You raw”.

We also say “Naw’mtalkinbout”. (Know what I’m talking about) but u gotta say it all like that. Lol. or “Naw’msayin”

Then there’s throwed (sumtimes spelt ‘thoed’): Could mean fly/hot or gone/high/drunk
“Man, did u see that car?!! That bitch was THROWED!!!!”
    or
“Man, we was hitting sweet afta sweet afta sweet last nite. Nicca I was THROWED.”

We say alotta stuff though. Lol.
