So yes, did anyone else watch the special last night at 10pm EST? even though i knocked out from the itis a good hour into the show, I was glad that I watched it and witnessed something special and beautiful about the human spirit. So what do we have here? We have a human being who cares so much about the lives of others that she did what she could, with her own money, to build an educational facility and a new life for socially and academically disadvantaged young girls. This topic isn’t necessarily about what Oprah has done as it is how you felt about the depictions and the stories told on the show.
It was crazy to see how one person could truly be a light in the lives of others. I was chuckling a lil when Oprah was tryna carry that bucket of water and almost injured her neck. I was like, “let’s go Harpo!” lol. Anyway, those young ladies were very talented, enthusiastic, and were visionaries. I can truly see how Oprah could be inspired by such a group. It was an enlightening special and I hope others caught it as well.
Thoughts?

P.S: This is what I call newsworthy….not Bald Brit!

I tivo’d it…so I will watch it later. I think Oprah unfairly caught slack about her comments about American kids vs. the kids she is helping in Africa. Anyone that has followed her African trips can clearly see that there is a desperate need for someone like her to come around. People like Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt know how to pose for the camera or shut down an entire African town to have their baby…but Oprah is out there doing something about. She’s raising awareness for world issues…something that no other media outlet or person is doing.
Now, let’s not point fingers at folks who we think haven’t done anything good with their money/celebrity or haven’t done enough. We are all in agreement that Oprah is doing something positive. Let’s just hope that others will…in their own way. Best wishes to Oprah and all those who’re helping the helpless.
“Now, let’s not point fingers at folks who we think haven’t done anything good with their money/celebrity or haven’t done enough”
I moderately concur with that statement. I think Reecie’s original statement speaks truths to the state in which we live today- where certain celebrities and certain issues are newsworthy compared to others. And the media distorts and shapes that which is newsworthy and not. While I agree that it makes no sense to point fingers, I do it is important to see what the media chooses to highlight and what it chooses to show at 10pm…why it wasn’t shown earlier still irks me….10pm is almost “get ready for bed” hours…
I enjoyed the special. I felt bad for Oprah when she had to cut people because they didn’t score high enough on different test. That must had been a tough job to do.
I thought it was incredible - I just popped back to the website for the third time since seeing the special. I know she has caught salck for “not helpin in her own country” and “she could have used that amount of money to help thousands of children” but I think she was spot on.
Women - in some ways are the key. Most of these girls will lead, and marry and have children. Not only will their knowledge, leadership and effect have an enormous impact on South Africa, but their children will as well.
If I was a businessman, or leader there, I would be drooling at the thought of the quality of people coming out of this school. Let’s put one in Afghanistan! And China and all the place that “need” help. Imagine a Afghani women who is bright, forcefull and leadership quality (not that there aren’t already there) but graduating from an academy - where you would be STUPID not to hire… what a culture shift.
Oprah is just a wonderful human being and i’m sure she knows it. She is one of those very rare celberties who actually do positive things with her money. The world needs more people like that, not like Paris Hilton who’s famous for being a wild party girl who spends her money on a pair of $5,000 designer name jeans. That angers me! If I had that kinda money I would still B shopping at Target and spending my money on things that matter more. Keep being a role model for the children of our future Oprah!!!!!!
Oprah Winfrey is simply the best of humans who will surely see God’s Kingdom
Dear Editor, Rather Miss Winfrey see’s God’s Kingdom or not, the decision is God’s to make!
November 8, 2007
Dear Reader,
Rather Miss Oprah Winfrey see’s God’s Kingdom or not, the decision is only for God’s to make! Why? Because, I have been Miss Winfrey’s rival for over twenty years without even my awareness. I have also watched her take all of my charitable ‘ideas’, and use the same ‘ideas’ to start her Angel Network idea. However, I have also even neglected for more than twenty years to pursue my civil lawsuit for her outrageous invasions of my life stories privacy, but because of the charitable contributions that she renders to others, I delayed the lawsuit with much patience.
Meanwhile, I’ve investigated that Miss Winfrey gives only to be seen in the media ‘giving’; and I ‘give’ quietly not requesting media exposre, or telling anyone. Then I investigated and discovered that Miss Winfrey only give for bribe and to a selected few; and I unconditionally ‘give’ to all in need of charity. I also discovered on commencement of my civil lawsuit on May 12, 2005; the Tracey Elaine Blair vs. Oprah Winfrey & Harpo Productions, Inc., that even though it has been proven beyond a reasonable doubt through my evidenced Exhibits that Miss Winfrey unlawfully invades my privacy to exploit my life story for profit on her television Oprah Winfrey Talk Show for more than twenty years, her lawyer, Mr. Fowler replied: “Miss Oprah Winfrey is not going to give you anything, no money for your sufferings.” Finally, I am now convinced to believe that Miss Oprah Winfrey is evil and merciless; and I feel sorry for the innocent little girls’ left in that school to be seexually abused by evil demonic forces.
“Very Respectfully,”
Mrs. Tracey Elaine Blair
